Steelers WR Hines Ward Pleads Guilty To A Reckless Driving Charge, Days Appear To Be Numbered In Pittsburgh

Posted February 22nd, 2012 by

Steelers Depot has just reported that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, Hines Ward has pleaded guilty to a lesser reckless driving charge in connection with a July 9th DUI in Georgia. Ward pleaded guilty for failure to maintain a lane and pleaded no contest to the more serious reckless driving charge. The DUI charge has been dropped.

He will receive 12 months probation and has to pay $2,000 in court costs/fines.

This may be the straw that broke the camel’s back in Pittsburgh. Ward is a free agent, so the Steelers may look to part ways. Granted the Steelers put up with all of Ben Roethlisberger’s mischief, but teams tend to put with character flaws in exchange for winning.

Fear not, it looks like Hines Ward has already tried out for another franchise. It appears he still has first string speed still (check out the 1:26 mark on the video below). Rumor has it the team is on shaky ground, however.
